The New Orleans Saints will take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 of the 2022 season. In this intense division rivalry, who will come out on top?

The Saints have recent history on their side. Under former head coach Sean Payton, the black and gold have long held the upper hand against their NFC South rivals, winning 22 of 32 meetings since 2006. This year, though, a flurry of changes have more or less leveled the battlefield, and each team enters Week 1 with the hopes of coming away with a dub to start the season.

Here are the odds and predictions for the game.

Saints vs Falcons Odds Week 1

The betting odds on FanDuel have the Saints as -5.5 favorites away. The Saints’ moneyline sits at -225 while the Falcons’ moneyline sits at +190. The total for the game is set at an over/under of 42.5 points.

Saints vs Falcons Prediction Week 1

Given that FanDuel is still favoring the Saints away from home, we think NOLA will win this one. Our money’s on Chris Olave making a big impact in his first career NFL game, though his role heavily depends on whether Michael Thomas is deemed ready to go.

On paper, the Saints have the far more talented and experienced roster — defensively, NOLA ranked in the top-ten in several categories last year, and there’s no reason the team won’t continue dominating with many of the same key pieces.

The offense poses as a bigger question mark given the unproven talents of Jameis Winston, but the Falcons really aren’t much better off with a quarterback duo of Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder.
