Here’s the latest injury update on Saints’ Paulson Adebo
By Kristen Wong
New Orleans Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo got injured in practice last week and isn’t a guaranteed starter for Week 1.
The second-year defender suffered an ankle injury when he landed awkwardly trying to intercept a throw to Tre’Quan Smith. Adebo walked off the field under his own power and all reports out of camp suggest the injury isn’t serious.
Adebo ended up missing the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers and has told reporters he is taking his injury “day by day.” With less than two weeks until the start of the 2022 season, Adebo is racing against the clock to get back on the field.
After the Saints lost rookie Trevor Penning to a season-ending injury, they are exercising extreme caution with Adebo, who is projected to be a starting cornerback in 2022.

The 2021 third-rounder impressed in his rookie season, playing all 17 games and recording 66 tackles, eight passes defended, and three interceptions.
With the surprise trade of C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Adebo will likely play a much larger role this year as NOLA figures out how to fill the nickel slot position.
Bradley Roby, P.J. Williams, and Alontae Taylor should also feature heavily in the backfield alongside star corner Marshon Lattimore; the Saints seem to have enough secondary depth for now, but the question heading into 2022 will be whether the team can maintain their high level of defensive dominance from last year.
Adebo was touted to enjoy a significant leap in production in his second year and hopefully won’t miss any time at all this season.
