2. Nick Vannett

The Saints have a plethora of tight ends on their roster and that could make Nick Vannett an easy candidate to trade to another team who might need a tight end. New Orleans is likely going to run with a TE1/2 set of Adam Trautman and Taysom Hill, leaving Vannett as the TE3.

Well, with guys like Juwan Johnson, Chris Herndon, and UDFA Lucas Krull waiting in the wings on the depth chart, it could make sense to ship Vannett elsewhere and give those other guys a chance.

Vannett is under contract for the next two years but there’s a potential out after the 2022 season, meaning that a trade could be manageable. The Saints would save $3 million if they were to trade Vannett, which is another reason this could be a move they end up making.

The fact of the matter is, however, that Vannett is a third-string tight end and teams will only probably come calling for him if they have an injury to their starting tight end and the backup gets propelled into the starting role. Vannett has experience as a backup and could be useful but he’s never been a superstar by any means.
