Jameis Winston “feels fine” after leaving practice early on Monday
New Orleans Saints fans held their breath after Jameis Winston left practice early on Monday. Dennis Allen said that Winston rolled his ankle. How is Winston doing now?
It’s never good when anyone gets injured in training camp but the starting quarterback leaving practice early is one of the scariest football sights there is. New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston departed Monday’s practice early and Andy Dalton stepped in and finished out the day as the QB1.
There were some conflicting reports on Winston’s injury initially with some saying he tweaked his foot, Dennis Allen saying he rolled his ankle, and others saying it was a foot injury altogether.
The good news is that it appears that Winston is doing okay and should be fine moving forward.
First, Nick Underhill tweeted on Monday afternoon that he was hearing the injury wasn’t anything major. Later that night, Adam Schefter tweeted that Winston was “doing well” and that there was “nothing to really worry about”.
Saints get good news surrounding Jameis Winston injury
Winston is an important piece in the Saints’ offense this year. Not only is he the quarterback but the team did what they could to surround him with actual weapons this season. When his best receiver last year was Marquez Callaway, it’s no wonder Winston had a few games where he struggled.
While he might still have some rough performances during the 2022 season, his receivers likely won’t be a reason why. Michael Thomas is back this year and the team also added Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry to the receiver room, giving Winston three weapons that he didn’t have last year.
It’s good to hear that Winston is doing okay. Fans might not see him in action during the team’s first preseason game this weekend and if he doesn’t play on Saturday, that’s totally fine.
