4. Tyrann Mathieu

It was huge news when Tyrann Mathieu reported to camp earlier this week after missing the first week due to personal reasons. The first two days of Mathieu returning mostly resulted in him just working out on his own while not doing much with the rest of the team.

On Friday, however, Mathieu partook in 7-on-7 drills.

While nothing noteworthy really took place while the Honey Badger was out on the field taking snaps with his team, just seeing him out there had Saints fans buzzing. Mathieu is originally from Louisiana and the Saints signed him late in the offseason in what was a huge get from them, especially with Marcus Williams departing in free agency and Malcolm Jenkins retiring.

3. Bradley Roby

The Saints traded for Bradley Roby last summer and it was expected that he’d be the other starting cornerback next to Marshon Lattimore. Unfortunately for him, he missed the first few games due to a suspension and during that time, Paulson Adebo had a chance to impress the coaching staff.

Adebo played so well throughout the year that he held onto the job and Roby took a backseat in the secondary. He’s back for the 2022 season in a similar role but it’s hard to deny that he’s having a strong camp and he showed that on Friday.

The biggest moment for Roby in Friday’s practice was when he picked off backup quarterback Andy Dalton, who was targeting Jarvis Landry. As Sean Fazende notes in the tweet below, it was tremendous coverage by Roby.
