Saints 2022 Training Camp: Top 4 takeaways from Day 2
Day 2 of New Orleans Saints training camp is in the books! What did we learn about the black and gold on the second day of training camp?
The official start of the next football season begins when training camp gets underway. The New Orleans Saints are on Day 2 of training camp and so far, there have been some interesting takeaways.
For Thursday’s practice, we once again had noteworthy takeaways. Let’s take a look at four from Day 2 of training camp.
4. Missing players
As per usual, not everyone was able to attend practice. Tyrann Mathieu was the most notable name missing Thursday’s practice but Juwan Johnson and Tanoh Kpassagnon were also not practicing along with some undrafted free agents.
Mathieu has been excused from the start of camp but I’m not entirely sure of why the others were unavailable. It’s important for the UDFAs to be at camp to prove that they’re deserving of being on the roster and Johnson falls into that boat as well since he’s not a lock to make the team.
Kpassagnon should be able to make the team after a solid 2021 season but missing time doesn’t bode well for him. The team is stacked with defensive line depth.
Marcus Davenport and Pete Werner didn’t practice with the rest of the team but they did individual drills instead. Both guys were hugely important in the defense last year and the same will be the case for 2022.
