2. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson brought a different energy to the Saints when he was drafted late in the fourth round in 2019.

Known as “Ceedy The Menace”, Gardner-Johnson is one of the most effective and versatile safeties in the NFL. He often refers to himself as “the best nickel in the league” and he has done nothing but prove it with how he not only terrorizes the opposing team with physical match-ups, his mind games are just as effective.

Gardner-Johnson is explosive in the secondary and has the mental willpower to do whatever is feasible to him as a player. The Florida product is one of the league’s best in slot coverage as he loves a challenge and is able to take on the cream of the crop wide-outs and tight ends with ease.

In his 2021 season, Gardner-Johnson recorded 46 combined solo and assisted tackles as well as four QB hits. Gardner-Johnson is in his last year of a four-year $3 million rookie contract. With a menacing demeanor like his, I doubt the Saints would want Gardner-Johnson on a team opposite of theirs but he’s going to be hard to keep.
