3 realistic goals for Saints QB Jameis Winston in 2022
By TJAY Jones
1. Start in his very first playoff game
Jameis Winston is going into his eighth season in the NFL and has only one playoff appearance. That appearance came when he was a backup to Drew Brees in 2020. However, he did throw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith in a divisional round game versus his former team in that game.
Winston has an excellent opportunity to start his first playoff game in 2022. He has a great collection of talent around him and a solid coaching staff. All he has to do is do what is required of him and stay healthy.
Jameis Winston is coming off an ACL injury, but ACL injuries are not looked at like they have been in years past. Winston has trusted the process throughout rehabilitation, and now he has trust in the football process.
The Saints missed the playoffs in 2021 for the first time in five seasons. They dealt with a lot of hardships and adversaries, including losing Winston. This year they have brought in more quality players at every level and have re-signed Winston to lead the team to a possible Super Bowl berth.
I see Winston leading the Saints to the playoffs in 2022, and if what the off-season has shown us has any merit to what type of quarterback Jameis Winston wants to be, the playoffs may be the start of something even more significant.
