1. Kawaan Baker

Ahead of last year’s draft, Saints fans expected the team to target at least one wide receiver early on but they didn’t end up doing so. They waited until the seventh and final round to draft a receiver and it was Kawaan Baker out of South Alabama.

Baker went on to appear in just two games and never found his way onto the field outside of special teams. As mentioned on Smith’s segment, the Saints added plenty of talent to the wide receiver position and that could lead to Baker being released this summer.

If Baker couldn’t find his way onto the field last year when New Orleans had terrible wide receivers, how is he going to do so in a year when the team upgraded significantly at the position? It’ll be tough for him to make the roster, especially considering he’s competing against a few talented UDFAs and other players who are in the same position he is.

Of any of the Saints’ recent draft picks who could be cut, Kawaan Baker seems to be the most likely option.
