As of this writing, the New Orleans Saints roster has 12 wide receivers on it. The organization was clearly determined to improve the position after its miserable outing a season ago.

This time last year, the New Orleans Saints were looking at a starting WR trio of Michael Thomas, Tre’Quan Smith, and Marquez Callaway. Thomas ended up missing the entire season and Smith was injured throughout the year as well, leaving Callaway to be the WR1. Callaway did what he could in a bad situation but no one would say that he was WR1-caliber.

Fast forward to present day and the Saints now have one of the best WR trios in the league. Thomas is returning from injury, Chris Olave was a first-round pick by the Saints, and Jarvis Landry’s addition in free agency was the cherry on top of an impressive run by the black and gold.

With 12 receivers on the roster as we inch closer to training camp, let’s rank the position. Some of these were hard to differentiate due to not having many stats to go off of so I put together tiers to break it down a little easier.

Let’s get to it!

12. Kirk Merritt

11. Rasheed Shahid

10. Easop Winston Jr.

9. Kawaan Baker

The first four on this list could be put in any order and not many fans would argue. We’ve barely seen any of these guys in action so it made sense to put them here.

Merritt has had just one catch in two years in the league, Shahid is an undrafted free agent out of a smaller school, Winston is more of a return specialist, and Baker didn’t see the field at all last year despite being one of the Saints’ draft picks.

It’ll be tough for any of these guys to make the 53-man roster out of training camp so they land in the bottom tier.
