3. C.J. Stroud
With the Saints trading away their 2023 first-round pick, they won’t be on the clock until the second round. That is going to make it tricky for them to find a franchise quarterback in next year’s draft if they decide they need to do so.
C.J. Stroud is one of the top two quarterback prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft and he’s likely going to be a top-five pick. Not having a first-round pick, New Orleans can only go after Stroud in the draft if they’re willing to give up a lot of capital to move not only back into the first-round but into the top five to grab the Ohio State product.
With how much the Saints love drafting Ohio State players, Stroud would fit right into their offense. He’d be reunited with Chris Olave and we’ve seen how well pairing a quarterback with their favorite wide receiver in college has worked out.
To land Stroud, the Saints would have to give up a lot but it’d be as bold a move as any they could make next offseason.
