If you are a Saints fan, you know what Latavius Murray can do. Murray is a tall physical running back that could fit in any team’s running back room. The Saints released him in 2021 after Tony Jones Jr. outperformed him in training camp and preseason. He then signed with the Baltimore Ravens, where he had a solid year as a backup running the football.

Murray returning to the Saints will add another veteran guy who understands what the team needs from him. Murray has shown on many occasions that he could step in and play at a high level when a team’s starting running back is unavailable.

In 2019 while Alvin Kamara was dealing with a knee injury, Murray stepped in and did a phenomenal job, averaging 159 yards from scrimmage in the two games he started. The Saints may need to add another running back to the roster, with a trial pending in Las Vegas for Kamara and a possible suspension on the horizon.

If New Orleans can sign Murray before training camp, he is familiar with the Saints’ offensive playbook and has already built chemistry with most of the team’s offensive players.

Murray did not leave the Saints on relatively bad terms. The NFL is a business, and sometimes, issues with contracts come up. A reunion in New Orleans is something that could happen in 2022.
