Saints Roster: Realistic expectations for Dai’Jean Dixon in 2022

Dai’Jean Dixon is entering his first year on the New Orleans Saints roster. What should fans expect from Dixon in 2022? 

The New Orleans Saints wide receiver position is finally going to be looked at as a position of strength this year, thanks to the additions of Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave. Michael Thomas’ return helps as well.

What about some of the other names at the wide receiver position, however?

One sneaky name on the roster who is worth keeping an eye on is undrafted free agent, Dai’Jean Dixon. The Saints signed Dixon after he didn’t hear his name called in this year’s draft and the Nicholls State product will have his work cut out for him if he wants to make it onto the roster.

Saints Roster: What should fans expect from Dai’Jean Dixon this year?

Dixon was a tremendous offensive weapon for Nicholls State last season, amassing 71 receptions for 1,002 yards and eight touchdowns. He’ll have a chance to show some of that production this summer for the Saints and fight for a reserve spot on the roster.

Dixon will be competing with Kevin White, former seventh-round pick Kawaan Baker, fellow UDFA Rashid Shaheed, Easop Winston, and Kirk Merritt to get onto the 53-man roster. When looking at those names, it’s not crazy to think that he has a chance to maybe make it onto the team as a third-stringer.

More than likely, Dixon will either be a special teams contributor or a practice squad player for New Orleans. There’s a chance that he shows up and impresses this summer but it’ll be tricky for him to do so.

If he does make the team, it’s doubtful he gets a lot of targets sent his way during a game. If injuries occur, that’s another story. If everyone remains healthy, Dixon might be able to help out on special teams.
