4 noteworthy New Orleans Saints slated to hit free agency in 2023
2. C.J. Gardner-Johnson
The Saints’ fourth-round selection of C.J. Gardner-Johnson was a good one and he’s become a fan favorite during his time in the Big Easy. Gardner-Johnson became a household name this past season when he poked fun at Tom Brady and the tablet during the Saints’ beatdown over the Bucs. He’s always good for some entertaining comments.
Not only is Gardner-Johnson entertaining off the field, but he’s a boss on the field. His 62.2 PFF grade seems low considering all that he does for the Saints’ defense but the guy is going to be a popular name in free agency.
This past year was the best of the former Florida product’s career, as he had a career-high three interceptions. He did miss five games due to injury and the secondary certainly missed him when he wasn’t available.
Gardner-Johnson will be 25 years old during free agency next offseason and while he doesn’t play to the level of Marcus Williams, he’s still going to be a player that teams are interested in adding. Hopefully, the Saints can keep him in the black and gold.
