There’s still a regular season to be played but once the 2022 season comes to an end, these four New Orleans Saints could be on their way to a new team.

It feels like every offseason, at least one or two key members of the New Orleans Saints are hitting free agency with the black and gold having few chances to keep those players in the state of Louisiana.

Let’s take a look at four noteworthy Saints who are going to be free agents next spring.

4. David Onyemata

A fourth-round pick in 2016, David Onyemata has gone from a rotational piece to a high-end starter on the Saints’ defensive line. Now, the former Manitoba product is entering the final year of his contract with New Orleans. He’ll turn 30 in November of this year but there’s reason to believe that he could be a popular name in free agency in March.

While the sack numbers aren’t eye-popping, Onyemata had a PFF Grade of 81.9 this past season, proving that he was effective in other aspects. He’s a pivotal part of this defensive line and we saw how much the unit improved when he returned from his suspension.

Hopefully, the Saints can find a way to keep him in the black and gold past 2022.
