FS Starter: Marcus Maye

Reserves: P.J. Williams, J.T. Gray

Free safety is led by Marcus Maye, who has had a pretty similar career to that of Marcus Williams. Both players were drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft and were franchise tagged last offseason.

Unfortunately for Maye, he was injured during the year he was supposed to prove he was worthy of a bigger contract and his play declined. New Orleans signed him to a three-year deal in what is an under-looked deal. Maye is a solid player when healthy so fingers crossed that he can stay healthy during his Saints tenure.

Behind Maye is P.J. Williams, who re-signed with the team this offseason. This will be his seventh year in New Orleans and he played well last year. He’s also someone who can slide in and play nickel corner, which is what the Saints like about him — The dude is versatile.

Lastly, there’s J.T. Gray, who mostly plays on special teams. He only appeared in 4% of the defensive snaps last season but was named All-Pro as a special teams contributor.
