3. J.C. Tretter, OC

It’s surprising to see J.C. Tretter still waiting for a team to hook on with. The Cornell product spent the past five years in Cleveland and missed just one game during that time. Not only that but he was a good player at a critical position yet here he is, still waiting to be scooped up.

In a perfect world, the Saints would sign Tretter and slide him in at center while kicking Erik McCoy over to right guard. That, in turn, would send Cesar Ruiz to the bench. The Saints aren’t going to do this though, even as much as fans would love to see Ruiz not starting every week.

Tretter fits what the Saints target in offensive linemen and there’s no doubt that he’d make this team better.

Verdict: Potential fit

2. Trey Flowers, EDGE

Trey Flowers, a former fourth-round pick out of Arkansas, is the best defensive player still waiting to sign with someone in free agency. Flowers played in New England for the first four years of his career and then spent the past three years with the Lions.

Flowers has only played in 14 games over the past two seasons due to injuries so that could be a concern with signing him. He’s not the same dominant pass-rusher who once ruled the roost in New England but he’d be a nice depth piece for a team. New Orleans could benefit from having Flowers on board but he wouldn’t be in a starting role if he donned the black and gold.

Verdict: Potential fit but not as a starter
