Third-Stringers: Andrew Dowell and D’Marco Jackson

As we get to the third-stringers on the depth chart, we’ll discuss Andrew Dowell and D’Marco Jackson.

Dowell previously went undrafted out of Michigan State but was able to stick around New Orleans in 2020. He only appeared in one game that year but did enough last offseason, the first true NFL offseason of his career, to stay on the roster. In year two, Dowell appeared in all but one game and had 15 tackles. Not bad for an undrafted free agent.

Jackson was selected in the fifth round of this year’s draft out of Appalachian State. He had a whopping 119 tackles while recording tackles for loss. He also had six sacks, five defended passes, one forced fumble, and one interception through 14 games this past season.

Jackson is someone who I wouldn’t be surprised to see emerge as a backup option if he puts together a strong summer.

These two might not be the biggest names but Saints fans hope that they can hold their own if called upon to make a play in a big moment.
