The New Orleans Saints rely heavily on their defense to get the job done each week and the linebackers play a major role in that. Let’s check out what their depth chart might look like.

While the Saints haven’t re-signed Kwon Alexander yet (and may not end up doing so), the linebacker position should be set up to succeed in 2022. They have Demario Davis and Pete Werner returning as the starters and while the depth behind them leaves a bit to be desired, it could be a lot worse.

How will the Saints’ linebacker depth chart look when the 2022 season gets underway? Let’s take a look.

Starters: Demario Davis and Pete Werner

This should come as no surprise to anyone, as these two were quite the dynamic duo in 2022.

Demario Davis needs no introduction. He’s easily one of the best free-agent signings in Saints history and he’s coming off yet another prolific season, notching 105 tackles, 10 QB hits, and 3.0 sacks. It was his fifth straight year of recording at least 100 tackles, which is incredibly impressive, especially considering he’s 33 years old.

Pete Werner was the team’s second-round pick out of Ohio State last year and he immediately fit right in with this defense. Werner finished with 62 tackles, four tackles for loss, and 1 QB hit during his 15 games as a rookie. With a year of pro football under his belt, Werner should be even better in year two.

Who’s behind these two guys on the linebacker depth chart?
