1. He will lead the league in receiving yards and touchdowns

That’s right — Michael Thomas will put up the best numbers of his career in 2022.

This will happen because for the first time in his career he has the opportunity to do everything he is capable of doing as a wide receiver. This means running the entire route tree.

As much as I love Drew Brees, during the last three years of his career he was not able to throw the ball past 20 yards, and the offense suffered at times because of it. Teams were able to just sit on routes. It also gave individuals ammunition to discredit Thomas as a top-tier receiver by giving him the nickname “Slant Boy” due to him catching short passes from Brees.

Now the Saints have a quarterback in Jameis Winston who can make all the throws, I look for the New Orleans to have bigger plays downfield and for Thomas to be on the receiving end of those plays.

Winston is just the right quarterback to make Thomas even more dangerous as a receiver than he already is and help him put up numbers that will springboard the former second-round pick back into the top wide receiver conversation.
