The New Orleans Saints have a shiny new wide receiver in town, and his name is Chris Olave. It shouldn’t be surprising that Olave ranks as one of the most highly coveted fantasy rookie targets in 2022.

As the 11th overall pick in the draft, Olave brings starting potential to a revamped Saints offense this season, one that features Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, and a rehabilitated Jameis Winston.

This draft year was a record-breaking one for wide receivers in particular, as Olave was just one of many rookie wideouts plucked in the first round. When it comes to fantasy dynasty leagues, Olave was named No. 10 on fantasy football expert Matt Williamson’s top-40 rookie list on the Peacock and Williamson NFL Show.

Is that a fair assessment?

Taking a look at the list, the three running backs seem to have solid fantasy potential as each ball-carrier could find success in his respective team’s scheme; Kenneth Walker, for example, could flourish in a Russell Wilson-less Seahawks team that relies more on the running game in 2022.

As for the wide receivers, Olave’s ranking appears low given that some of the other wideouts were drafted much later than him, but taking into account other factors, the No. 10 spot fits Olave well.

The likes of Drake London, Garrett Wilson, and Treylon Burks will each serve as WR1 or WR2 for their respective teams while Olave will have to fight for targets against Thomas and Landry, two very seasoned vets.

Even players like Skyy Moore, who arguably have less upside than Olave, get a boost due to their quarterback pairings (Patrick Mahomes beats Jameis Winston any day), and the only questionable selection in our eyes is Steelers’ George Pickens at No. 9.

Fantasy managers everywhere will likely be clamoring to take Michael Thomas this year, but Chris Olave could be the record-breaking wide receiver in 2022.
