1. Secondary

Both the cornerback and safety positions in New Orleans are stacked so I decided to just include them in the same entry.

Now, prior to the past few weeks, this would have just been cornerback, as the safety position looked like it’d be taking a huge step back with the losses of Marcus Williams in free agency and Malcolm Jenkins to retirement.

Tyrann Mathieu ended up joining his hometown team, however, and pairing him with free-agent addition Marcus Maye was a terrific move that puts the safety position back in the strong category.

Cornerback is a position that in recent years has needed some help but it’s pretty loaded this year. Marshon Lattimore leads the charge at the position along with Paulson Adebo who had a nice rookie year and C.J. Gardner-Johnson could slide over to the cornerback side of things after mostly playing safety.

NOLA drafted Alontae Taylor in the second round and he’s an option to help out at cornerback. They also brought back P.J. Williams who is no stranger to being moved around in the secondary.

Simply put, the Saints’ secondary is the strength of their team and in a pass-happy league, that’s excellent news.
