The New Orleans Saints made a huge splash last week with the addition of wide receiver Jarvis Landry. Will it help them overthrow the Buccaneers in the NFC South?

From 2017 to 2020, the New Orleans Saints ran the NFC South. This past year, they made a run for five straight division titles but losing Jameis Winston midway through the season hurt their chances. The Bucs ended up winning and are favored to do so in 2022 as well.

WynnBET has Tampa’s odds at winning the NFC South this year set at -300, which means they’re overwhelming favorites. This isn’t surprising considering how bad the Falcons and Panthers are likely going to be but they have given the Saints some respect in the odds.

Before the addition of Jarvis Landry, the Saints had +450 odds to win the division. Now that he’s in the Big Easy, WynnBET has the Saints as +400 odds to win the NFC South in 2022, meaning that Landry helped improve their odds.

While the spike upwards wasn’t a massive one, the Saints have a decent shot of giving the Bucs a run for their money in the division this year thanks to the weapons they’ve added. Landry is the latest offensive weapon to join the team and he’ll now team up with Michael Thomas and rookie Chris Olave as the starting wide receiver corp for New Orleans.

The Saints’ Super Bowl odds didn’t change from the +4000 previously given to them before Landry joined the team and I’m not too shocked by that. His addition will probably be good for an extra win or two but it doesn’t propel them into the Super Bowl conversation.

Saints fans should be thrilled about Landry joining the team because he gives Jameis Winston another weapon to target on the field. This should make the team more competitive in the division title race and hopefully, we see them reclaim the NFC South this season.
