Entering the draft, no one knew for sure how serious the Saints were when it came to targeting a quarterback. After they traded with the Eagles and gained an additional first-round pick, it felt as though either a move-up for a quarterback or spending one of those picks on a quarterback was imminent.

Instead, the Saints didn’t grab a quarterback despite all of the options being on the board when they were on the clock in the first round. This was good news for Jameis Winston because it means he’ll be the starter for sure this year without any controversy, barring something unusual.

Not only is Winston not going to have any noise surrounding a rookie quarterback taking his job but he also got help on offense, which is something he didn’t have a year ago. Not only is Michael Thomas coming back but the team spent one of their first-round picks on Chris Olave, giving Winston two electric options at a position the team had little help at a season ago.

Winston should hopefully have the tools to succeed in 2022 and his stock rose tremendously high once the draft was in the books.
