The New Orleans Saints roster got a major boost in the 2022 NFL Draft when the team spent one of their first-round picks on Chris Olave. The Ohio State wide receiver fills a huge need in New Orleans and he’s going to make his presence felt as a rookie.

Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports put together a list of the top 10 rookies who will make an instant impact and obviously, Olave made the list.

Trapasso offered this analysis:

"Olave won’t have to shoulder the responsibility of facing the opposition’s No. 1 cornerback thanks to the return of Michael Thomasin 2022, which is an immediate win for the rookie wideout. And, he’ll get Jameis Winston throwing him the football, one of the league’s most aggressive passers. Now, Winston only threw the football 30 or more times in two of his seven starts last season, but given the Saints ascension to grab Olave, it’s safe to assume the pass game will return to being the focal point of New Orleans’ offense, and the crisp route-running brilliance of Olave will lead to productivity out of the gate for the former Ohio State star."

It’s no secret that the Saints’ offense in 2021 was arguably the worst in the league and a huge reason as to why that was the case was that they didn’t have any receiving options. Alvin Kamara, a running back, was their best pass-catcher and that’s not a great situation to be in.

Saints roster got a whole lot better with Chris Olave addition

While Jameis Winston put up decent numbers in his seven starts, it was clear that not having a wide receiver impacted his numbers. There were too many games even with Winston where the offense struggled to put points on the board.

The Saints are giving Winston every chance to show he can be their signal-caller of the future and did so with adding Olave. The offense will already get Michael Thomas back but giving both Thomas and Olave is a recipe for success.

The other rookies to make the list were Skyy Moore of the Chiefs, Logan Hall of the Bucs, Aidan Hutchinson of the Lions, Zion Johnson of the Chargers, Christian Watson of the Packers, Kaiir Elam of the Bills, Kyle Hamilton of the Ravens, Breece Hall of the Jets, and Garrett Wilson of the Jets. Olave was No. 8 on the list, for those who were wondering.

The New Orleans Saints’ offense was dreadful last year but Chris Olave is one big reason why it will be much better in 2022. He’s a red-zone machine and will be one of Winston’s favorite weapons.
