Saints Mock Draft: NOLA makes a blockbuster trade to grab franchise QB
Round 3: Pick 98 – Romeo Doubs, WR (Nevada)
After going with a quarterback and a safety with their first two selections, New Orleans finally nabs a wide receiver in the third round with their pick of Romeo Doubs.
Doubs spent his collegiate career at Nevada where he was an absolute freak of nature for the Wolfpack, especially over the past two years. This past year was Doubs’ best, however, as he appeared in 11 games and had a total of 80 receptions for 1,109 yards and 11 trips into the end zone while averaging 13.9 yards per catch.
The year prior Doubs had another 1,000+ yard season, grabbing 58 catches for 1,002 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s proven that he can consistently put up solid numbers but he played in the Mountain West, which is something to keep in mind.
If the Saints added Doubs, they’d have their deep threat for Jameis Winston and then eventually Pickett once he takes over. He’d also be able to work as the team’s slot receiver.
The versatility that Doubs provides is appealing to New Orleans and he’d be able to get right to work in the Big Easy.
