Saints Mock Draft: NOLA makes a blockbuster trade to grab franchise QB
Round 2: Pick 50 – Jaquan Brisker, S (Penn State)
The Rams came calling with a trade that was hard for the Saints to pass up, especially considering they had already surrendered two of their first-round selections. Los Angeles offered their second-round pick and an extra third-rounder and NOLA had to do was move back one spot.
They accepted the trade and in doing so, still managed to get the best player available in Jaquan Brisker out of Penn State.
After losing Marcus Williams to the Ravens and Malcolm Jenkins to retirement, the Saints find themselves in a position where Marcus Maye and Daniel Sorensen are set to be their starting safeties. That’s not a good spot to be in.
Maye should provide a decent option at the position but Sorensen was one of the worst safeties in the league last year. He cannot be a starting option for the black and gold when the season gets underway.
Brisker totaled 63 tackles, five defended passes, and two interceptions through 12 games in 2021. He could end up being a late first-round target for a team so if he falls this far, the Saints would be thrilled to add him to their secondary.
