The New Orleans Saints have two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft and while fans are hoping the team uses those picks on a wide receiver and an offensive lineman, they continue to be linked to a quarterback. Kenny Pickett, in particular, has been connected to the Saints frequently.
WynnBET has the odds on which team will draft Pickett in the 2022 NFL Draft and the Saints sit with +375 odds, tying them for second-best odds with the Steelers. Only the Panthers have better odds, sitting with +150 odds to take the Pittsburgh product.
Carolina holds the sixth overall pick and are probably going to be the first team to potentially target a quarterback in the first round. While Malik Willis is the betting favorite to be the first quarterback off the board (-360 odds compared to Pickett’s +160), don’t be shocked if another team jumps the Panthers to grab Willis in the top five.
New Orleans Saints still linked to QB Kenny Pickett
The Saints re-signed Jameis Winston this offseason, this time doing so on a two-year deal. The original plan could have been to see how this year goes and then, if necessary, draft a quarterback in the first round of next year’s draft but NOLA punted on that idea when they shipped their 2023 first-rounder to the Eagles in order to add a second-round one selection for this year’s draft.
Pickett spent five years at Pittsburgh and didn’t explode onto the scene until this past season when he threw for 4,319 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions through 13 games. He was a stud for the Panthers this past year but is the one year of accomplishments enough to sell the farm for him?
In order to get Pickett, New Orleans probably has to part ways with both of their first-round picks and that’d leave them without a way to draft one of the first-round studs at wide receiver. They should stand pat at picks No. 16 and 19 and let the board fall to them.
