The New Orleans Saints have been a run-heavy offense in recent years and that’s why they need to make sure they have top-notch running backs on their roster. What does the running back depth chart look like for the black and gold as we inch closer to the 2022 NFL Draft?

When Drew Brees’ arm strength began to decline and the wide receivers in New Orleans weren’t as good as they used to be, the team became a run-first offense. This way made easy by having Alvin Kamara on the roster but also a strong backup in Latavius Murray.

Last offseason saw the Saints part ways with Murray to give youngster Tony Jones Jr. a shot to show what he could do and the effort was disappointing, to say the least.

New Orleans traded for Mark Ingram and he had a hot start with his old team but then didn’t do much down the stretch.

With Kamara facing a possible suspension for the 2022 season, the Saints need to make sure they have the right group of guys on the roster to help make this rushing attack as dangerous as possible.

Let’s take a look at the Saints’ running back depth chart ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.
