3. Wil Lutz

It took a while for the Saints to find a reliable kicker in 2021 due to Wil Lutz being unable to kick for the team last year. What felt like a midseason return turned into an entire year away from the team and that led to some pretty miserable games from a kicking standpoint.

New Orleans tried their luck with Aldrick Rosas, Brian Johnson, and Cody Parkey before circling back to Brett Maher, who eventually kicked well enough down the road to keep the job and not have fans dry heaving before every field goal attempt.

With Lutz being healthy enough to return, however, fans can go back to not feeling anxious every time the team attempts a field goal or an extra point. The kicking was so bad at one point that it felt like a better strategy to either go for it on fourth down or to go for two whenever those opportunities arose.

Lutz might take some time to get back to being the kicker he once was but it’ll be nice having him on the active roster again. When he last saw him in action, he had an 82.1% field goal completion and a 98.3% extra-point completion.

Hopefully, he’s still got it.
