The player the Saints might be forced to trade up for is Charles Cross, who could shore up their left tackle position. With Terron Armstead heading to South Beach to help the Dolphins’ offensive line, left tackle becomes arguably the biggest position of need for the black and gold.

Cross is someone who could slot in at left tackle from Day 1 and provide the team with stout play at the position for the next four or five years. He’s been up in the air with where he goes in the first round so a trade up for the Mississippi State offensive tackle might not even be necessary.

If, however, Cross hasn’t been selected within a few picks of when the Saints are slated to draft, trading up to make sure he ends up in the Big Easy might be something the team considers. There aren’t many other starting left tackle options for NOLA in this draft that they’re realistic candidates to land but Cross is one of the few.

That’s why if New Orleans wants to make sure their offensive line doesn’t regress in a big way, they trade up to land Cross and beef up their o-line.
