After the New Orleans Saints didn’t land Deshaun Watson in a trade, they need to get moving in free agency. They’ve signed a few players so far and need to continue looking for some bargain names for their 2022 squad.

Let’s take a look at five remaining free agents who could be a bargain for New Orleans after one week of free agency is officially in the books.

5. Danny Trevathan

While Kwon Alexander is still available in free agency, he might be too expensive for the Saints to bring back. They still could use another linebacker to pair with Demario Davis and Pete Werner though, so Danny Trevathan is someone NOLA should consider signing.

Trevathan, a former sixth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, was a big part of the Broncos defense that won a Super Bowl in the 2015 season. He signed with the Bears after winning a ring in Denver and went on to be a solid contributor during his six years in the Windy City.

This past season, Trevathan appeared in just five games but in 2020, he notched 113 tackles while starting all 16 regular-season games. This past season wasn’t a great indicator as to what kind of player Trevathan could be but it should make him more affordable in free agency.

He’s worth a gamble and it probably wouldn’t take much money to land the former Kentucky Wildcat.
