2. Erik McCoy

The Saints spent a second-round pick on Erik McCoy in the 2019 NFL Draft and he’s gone on to impress greatly in New Orleans. McCoy is entering the final year of his rookie contract, so the Texans could determine if they want to extend him past 2022.

McCoy offers versatility, which is one of the main reasons Saints fans appreciate the guy. He’s mostly played center but has the ability to slot in at guard if need be.

Prior to this past season, McCoy was as durable as they came too, not missing a single game. Last year he missed five games and the Saints offensive line was a mess without him. He truly was the glue that held the unit together and losing him to the Texans would be a devastating blow.

If NOLA had to trade McCoy, they’d either move Cesar Ruiz to center where he’s played before or they could end up targeting a center in the draft (depending on how high of a pick they have).

This wouldn’t be a popular move considering how solid McCoy has been during his time in New Orleans but he could be someone the team has to part ways with to get Watson.
