3. Michael Thomas

There are several reasons why I’m not over the moon about the Saints being in the works to trade for Watson. One is that if they have to trade Michael Thomas and multiple first-round picks, then it’s going to be hard for them to build their offense up enough for Watson to succeed in New Orleans.

Thomas didn’t play at all in 2021 due to injury and he was banged up throughout the 2020 season,  so we don’t know if he can be that same guy he was before getting injured. In 2019, Thomas won the Offensive Player of the Year award, which could be enough for the Texans to want him as part of a potential trade package.

If the Saints lose Thomas and their 2022 first-round pick, they’re not going to be able to add a wide receiver for Watson to throw to. We saw how difficult it was for the Saints quarterbacks this past season not having any true wideout threats on the field and that’d be the same story for Watson here.
