I’m not sure that New Orleans will end up adding a tight end in free agency due to having three names at the position already. Maybe this time next year when Nick Vannett is heading free agency and Adam Trautman nearing the end of his rookie deal the team can be more aggressive but it’s hard to see them making the position a priority.

Be that as it may, it’s hard not to look at possible names at the position. Maxx Williams is someone who has struggled to stay healthy throughout the course of his career, not appearing in double-digit games over the past two years.

Even with that being the case, he’s only entering his age-28 season and is going to be looking to prove that he can be a TE1 in the right offense. Williams hasn’t put up big numbers during his career and the injuries should make him an affordable tight end option for teams needing a playmaker at the position.

As can be the case with any free agent, this could backfire but if the Saints want to pull the trigger and find a better option at tight end, Maxx Williams might be worth the risk.
