5 left tackle options for Saints if Terron Armstead signs elsewhere

2. Eric Fisher

By now, you’re picking up on the fact that I’m not including the big-name free agents. If the Saints can’t afford to keep Armstead, then they’re probably not going to be able to afford the other top names out there (though Armstead is the best left tackle on the market and it’s not particularly close).

A free-agent option that I’d be okay with New Orleans bringing in to replace Armstead would be Eric Fisher. A former No. 1 overall pick in what’s considered one of the worst drafts of all-time, Fisher spent eight years with the Chiefs, and by the end of his tenure there, he was pretty solid at left tackle.

He spent the 2021 season in Indianapolis and played well for them on the left side of the line. Fisher obviously isn’t the long-term solution if the Saints were to sign him but he provides a veteran presence and could easily be the left tackle for the next few years while New Orleans tries to find a more permanent solution.
