4. Landon Young

The Saints spent a sixth-round pick last year on Landon Young and some thought perhaps it was to prepare for if Armstead left after the 2021 season.

Young, who spent his college football days at Kentucky, appeared in 10 games last season and unfortunately landed on IR late in the year. It was a shame that he wasn’t available down the stretch because NOLA certainly could have used him on the o-line with all of the injuries and had a better chance to see what he could do.

I don’t think Young will end up getting the starting left tackle job for 2022 but the Saints have done well with drafting tackles. If they don’t find a better option, there’s definitely a chance  that Young could surprise some people and end up as the left tackle.

Until we hear otherwise, Young is absolutely in the conversation to replace Armstead moving forward. Fans hope that the team can find a more proven solution but we don’t know what Young can do, so right now, he’s in the race.
