1. Restructure Marshon Lattimore

Marshon Lattimore has been a staple point of the Saints’ defense since being drafted in 2017 out of Ohio State. This led to the star of the Saints working out a five-year extension worth $97.5 million. NOLA knew exactly what they were doing when they signed Lattimore to this deal.

Lattimore is a prime candidate for a restructure as it’s the first year in his deal, and the team can free up a lot of money by doing so. With his current deal, Lattimore’s cap number is $27,453,388. However, with a restructure, the team could potentially get this number all the way down to $8,999,317.

This would free up over $18,454,071 in cap space this offseason, which is by far the most amount of money that can be freed up the rest of this offseason. We’ve seen plenty of Saints stars agree to contract restructures, and it’s likely Lattimore will be no different.

If they can agree to a restructure, this would set the New Orleans Saints up very nicely to get out of the cap mess they are currently in.

With the team needing to clear cap space it is likely these moves will be made. Saints fans will once again have to put their faith in Mickey Loomis to get the team out of this mess.
