For the first time in forever, cornerback isn’t a major need for the NOLA Saints. That’s exactly why they could still opt to add one in the first round of the draft and Washington’s Trent McDuffie is someone who very well could still be on the board at pick No. 18.

The Draft Network projects McDuffie as a starting cornerback and with New Orleans likely having to cut Bradley Roby to free up cap space, why not replace him with the rookie corner?

Just last year the Saints hit with their rookie cornerback Paulson Adebo, so adding McDuffie to the tandem of Adebo and Marshon Lattimore would give them a solid young core for the next several years.

There’s always a chance that draft picks don’t end up performing well but adding a player of McDuffie’s caliber to an already-stacked Saints defense would be an amazing move for this team. Cornerback might not be a major need for NOLA entering the draft but this would be one of the safer picks they could make and honestly, they could probably trade back and still get their guy.
