4 safest selections NOLA Saints could make in 2022 NFL Draft

The NOLA Saints hold the No. 18 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. We all have our opinions about who the team should take but what if the black and gold decide to go with the safest options? Who could that end up being and what could we expect from those prospects if they did land in New Orleans?

The biggest needs for this draft appear, on paper, to be at quarterback, wide receiver, offensive line, and safety. Just because those are the biggest needs does not mean that the team will go in that direction.

Take last year for example.

Did anyone in their right mind expect New Orleans to go with a defensive end in the first round? Elijah Moore was still on the board and could have been a terrific weapon for their offense. But they added Payton Turner instead and proved that they can really surprise everyone when it comes to who they take in round one of the draft.

With all of this in mind, why don’t we take a look at four safe picks the Saints could make in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft? These might not be at the positions the team needs but they’ve never shied away from doing that.
