2. Demario Davis

One of the best free-agent signings in New Orleans Saints history has to be Demario Davis. He actually might be the second-best ever behind Drew Brees if we’re being entirely honest. That’s how good Davis has been since joining the black and gold in the 2018 season.

Davis just capped off his fifth-straight year where he totaled at least 100 tackles while also piling up 10 QB hits and three sacks. Unsurprisingly, he led the Saints in tackles for the 2021 season and second place (Malcolm Jenkins) wasn’t even close (Jenkins had 79 tackles).

The dude is a straight-up monster when he takes the field and pairing him with rookie Pete Werner made the linebacker position one of the biggest strengths on the team.

Davis is under contract for two more seasons and while some outsiders might have said the Saints should flirt with the idea of trading their linebacker to clear up cap space, doing so really wouldn’t clear up much space. It’d only save them roughly $1 million plus losing Davis would be be a detriment to this defense.

I can’t wait to see him back on the field this year.
