When we entered the 2021 season, Marshon Lattimore was one of the big “pending free agents” fans had their eyes on. Fortunately, as the Week 1 curb-stomping over the Packers was taking place, reports surfaced that Lattimore and the Saints agreed on a five-year $97 million extension tying him to New Orleans through the 2026 season.

This was a smart move for the Saints because Lattimore is one of the best young cornerbacks in the league. He’s a leader in that defense and he was even better this past season with Paulson Adebo helping him out in the secondary.

Lattimore tied the team lead in interceptions with three and it felt like he got the better of the top wideouts in the league more often than not. That’s exactly what you want to see from your top cornerbacks.

New Orleans is likely going to be forced to cut Bradley Roby to save money and this is unfortunate, but having Lattimore back means the secondary is still in good shape moving forward.
