Saints Free Agents in 2022

  • Ty Montgomery
  • Trevor Siemian
  • P.J. Williams

Montgomery is one of the more intriguing players in the league due to his ability to play both running back and wide receiver. He was a wide receiver initially during his time with the Packers but switched to running back when Green Bay had no other options at the position.

That was where he’s mostly played ever since but this season, he spent more time as a receiver due to the Saints’ lack of weapons. He finished the year with 16 catches for 95 yards.

Siemian was never someone we expected to make the roster, as NOLA had four total quarterbacks entering training camp. With Taysom Hill more valuable as an offensive weapon and Ian Book just getting drafted in April, New Orleans was wise to keep Siemian on the roster.

Siemian ended up taking over at quarterback after Jameis Winston went down and started four games. He went 0-4 but he threw for over 1,150 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three picks during that time. It wasn’t all on Siemian for why the Saints entered a slump but he wasn’t necessarily great and I don’t expect him to return to New Orleans next season.

Williams is someone we’d all love to see back. He was a crucial part of the defense in 2021 and if they lose Marcus Williams, having P.J. Williams back in that secondary would at least keep the unit pretty much the same. Hopefully, he’ll be up for a reunion.
