The NOLA Saints don’t have a quarterback for the 2022 season. While the regular season isn’t getting underway for another seven months, there aren’t great options available this offseason and that’s putting the team in a tough spot.

Before we dive into the best remaining options for New Orleans, let’s discuss why some guys didn’t make the cut here.

First, we’ll talk about Russell Wilson, who most Saints fans would love to see donning the black and gold for the rest of his career. While Wilson hasn’t appeared to be happy with his current team at times, it feels like he’ll stay with Seattle for at least another year. Maybe if there were better quarterback options available this offseason the Seahawks would part ways with him, but that isn’t the case.

Second, there’s Aaron Rodgers, who Cameron Jordan has been pushing hard to get to come to the Big Easy. The Packers are reportedly planning to offer Rodgers a deal that’d make him the highest-paid quarterback in the league and with that offer out there, there’s no way the Saints could afford to trade for him.

Lastly, let’s discuss Derek Carr. He’s the option I wanted I most wanted to see in New Orleans for 2022 and beyond and that was before Sean Payton left and Dennis Allen took over. Carr is expected to sign an extension with the Raiders sadly, removing him from the board of possible candidates.

With those three no longer realistic options, let’s take a look at the five remaining candidates who would be the best choices for the New Orleans Saints at quarterback in 2022.
