Round 2: Pick 49 – Jahan Dotson, WR (Penn State)

I’ve mocked Jahan Dotson to the Saints several times because by the time the black and gold are picking in the second round, Dotson is usually the best option remaining at wide receiver. I heavily debated going with Colorado State’s Trey McBride here but the need for a dominant wide receiver is stronger than having a solid tight end.

Dotson has the speed the Saints offense covets and he was a freak of nature for the Nittany Lions last year, amassing 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns during his senior season in State College.

If the Saints get Michael Thomas back for the 2022 season, pairing him with Dotson takes the NOLA offense from “meh” to amazing just like that. This is, of course, assuming that Thomas returns to his 2019 form (or even a few levels below is okay) and Dotson can be the same playmaker he was at Penn State.

Of course, in order to get the most out of Dotson, the Saints need to add a guy who can get the ball to their next speedy weapon.
