The NOLA Saints are one of three teams without a head coach for the 2022 season. While the decision shouldn’t be rushed, they’ll need to make a decision as to who will take over the reins previously held by Sean Payton in the next week or two.
As of this writing, the Bears, Broncos, Giants, Jaguars, Raiders, and Vikings have all found their head coach. The Saints along with the Dolphins and Texans are still waiting to find who’s going to lead the team in 2022 and hopefully beyond.

🏈Giants: Brian Daboll
🏈Raiders: Josh McDaniels
🏈Vikings: Kevin O’Connell
🏈Jaguars: Doug Pederson
Still left: Dolphins, Saints, Texans
Let’s take a look at six potential options still remaining as options for New Orleans.
6. Darren Rizzi
Earlier this week, special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi interviewed for the head coaching job and appears to remain in the mix for the job. Mike Garafolo initially reported Rizzi’s upcoming interview and mentioned that he has been with the organization since 2019.
Rizzi served as the Dolphins’ special teams coordinator from 2010-2016 and then took on associate head coach duties in 2017 and 2018 as well. He interviewed for the opening head coach position in 2019 but did not get it and then joined the Saints as their special teams coordinator.
#Saints special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi will interview for the team’s head coaching job later this week, sources say. Rizzi has been with New Orleans since 2019, shortly after he interviewed for the #Dolphins’ HC job.

While it was a smart move of the Saints to interview Rizzi, he’s the least likely to land the job out of the bunch but that doesn’t mean he won’t eventually earn a head coaching job somewhere in the league down the road.
