5 potential landing spots for Saints WR Tre’Quan Smith in free agency
1. Miami Dolphins
The team with the most cap space this offseason is the Dolphins and they just so happen to have a major need at wide receiver. Jaylen Waddle is their WR1 but after that, things get a little hairy.
With all of that said, Smith could make a lot of sense in South Beach. The team was just outside of playoff contention this season but with a few extra receivers, their offense could improve enough to get them the extra few wins that would have gotten them into the postseason.
Waddle is the main threat in the Dolphins offense but DeVante Parker isn’t the same guy he once was and Albert Wilson is slated to hit free agency. This is why a guy like Smith would make sense, as he could be a player similar to what Wilson was for Miami.
The ‘Fins have the money to spend on wide receivers this offseason and while Smith isn’t going to be a top priority, he could be a good fit for that team and would be a bargain option for them.
We won’t know what the future holds for Tre’Quan Smith until free agency gets underway in less than two months. For now, however, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Saints wideout end up with any of these teams.
