2. New Orleans Saints

Even though Smith didn’t perform as well as the Saints would have hoped, I wouldn’t be entirely shocked if they found a way to keep him in the Big Easy. He didn’t play well enough in 2021 to merit a massive contract and that’s good news for New Orleans because maybe — just maybe — they can afford to keep him.

Michael Thomas is slated to return this year, Marquez Callaway showed a lot of potential at the end of the year, and Lil’Jordan Humphrey also showed he had the chops to be a decent weapon. This could make Smith expendable but if he’s willing to return on a semi-cheap deal, this could be a pairing that makes sense considering they’re already familiar with one another.

I’m not sure if Smith would want to return knowing he’d be a depth piece, especially if the Saints draft a wide receiver early on, or if NOLA would want to bring him back, but it’s entirely possible that the black and gold are a landing spot for Smith.
