5 potential landing spots for Saints WR Tre’Quan Smith in free agency

4. Detroit Lions

A team that has needs at just about every position this offseason is the Lions. Wide receiver is certainly one spot that needs major retooling in the Motor City and Smith is someone who could get a fair share of targets should he end up in Detroit.

Amon-Ra St. Brown stood out for Detroit this past season but aside from that, they really don’t have a lot of top-tier talent. Signing with the Lions might not be exciting for free agents considering how bad the team was a season ago, but Smith would get reps in that offense. He’d immediately be one of the most experienced wideouts on the team if he joined them.

If Smith wants to go somewhere he can be a starter and make a difference, Detroit might be one of the better landing spots for him. If he wants to sign with a competitor, however, then this might not be the best place to sign.

Still, it’s hard not to link Smith to a Lions team that needs help at the wide receiver position.
