Saints 4-round mock draft: NOLA gains draft capital, still lands top talent
Round 2: Pick 49 – Jahan Dotson, WR (Penn State)
After passing on a wide receiver in the first round, New Orleans is still able to land one of the best names at the position with Penn State’s Jahan Dotson, who is an absolute stud. There’s no debating that Dotson would make the NOLA offense better in 2022 and beyond.
To recap, the Saints should get Michael Thomas back next season but we haven’t really seen him dominate since the 2019 season. That’s why adding wide receivers this offseason is so important.
Dotson was a monster for the Nittany Lions this past season, grabbing a whopping 91 receptions for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns. The previous season he had 52 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns through three fewer games than he had in 2021 so had it not been a season held at the beginning of a pandemic, he certainly could have had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.
The Saints made the mistake of not adding a wide receiver until the seventh round of last year’s draft. They can’t do that again this year. Adding Dotson to this offense would instantly make them better.
